Happy New Year, everyone! It’s that time of year where we get caught up in how to be “better”, how to change things or be new versions of ourselves. But before we all get lost in that, here’s a few things I think you should know:
You Won’t Always Be Motivated
Discipline is important. If motivation was easy to come by then we wouldn’t be looking for it in new yesrs resolutions or social media. But even then, you could read all the motivational quotes andmake all the vision boards your heart desires, but if you don’t have the discipline to actually apply it and put forth the effort, then you will make it harder on yourself to reach whatever your goal is. Discipline is key and only you can give that to yourself. There will be days were you just can’t find the energy to be motivated, and that’s ok too if that’s what your mind and body need, but not make it a habit out of laziness. Keep pushing for discipline and your future self will thank you!
This s Just A Chapter Not Your Whole Story
New year, new decade, new goals amiright? Just know that you do not have to accomplish all of the things right now, in this day, month or year. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your life. We focus so much on our end goals that we ask ourselves why they haven’t happened yet, why is it taking so long, why are others around me progressing faster. It isn’t a race my friends, it’s LIFE. Don’t spend a moment wishing time away just to get to your end goal sooner.
Privacy Is Power
Have you ever told someone about your big plans only to have them say something discouraging like “oh, you really want to do that?” “Will that make you any money?” “I didn’t know you had the heart for that”. It’s devastating and can be dream crushing. Have you ever told someone about your big plans only to have to turn around and anxiously tell them that you failed at it? Sometimes it is best to work hard in silence, only sharing with those close to you who you know will only lift you up and not tear you down or be judgmental. When you work in silence, you also become your own biggest cheerleader which ties back into you being the one who has to instill discipline in yourself. I encourage to try this on your next big goal you are trying to reach and see just how different it is wheb you hustle in silence instead of inviting toxic people to your big plans.
You Can Fight Whatever You Are Going Through
As someone who struggles with anxiety, fighting feelings of anxiousness and worry is a constant for me. I had some health issues at the end of 2019 that I thought might break me. This past yea I have personally started to practice mindful meditation and it has helped me so much to calm my thoughts and just breathe. I encourage everyone to find that something that allows them to give their mind a break. It could be reading a book, drinking a cup of tea, or just going for a walk. It is so very important for us to not only take care of our physical health, but our mental health as well. Some situations that you are fighting may seem never ending, impossible to stop, but I can assure you with the right tools, you can ease your struggling. Also, don’t ever compare your struggle to someone else, EVER. Just because you may think your struggle isn’t as bad as someone else’s doesn’t mean that yours isn’t valid. You are human, we all are and we all struggle. Even those who look picture perfect are not. We struggle and cope different but at the end of the day you have to take care of you and yours. Don’t compare, it is the biggest thief of joy.
I am wishing you all many blessing and good vibes going into 2020. Make the affirmation today that it will be your year to remember these few things I’ve shared here today. Stay positive, remove toxic people and situations and don’t let anything steal your joy!
